Friends of Agua Blanca Foundation

In 2011, the Friends of Agua Blanca Foundation, AC was born.

Whose Mission (condensed) is "To promote the social participation of the population and promote the comprehensive development of the region by designing and implementing initiatives related to the conservation, restoration and protection of the environment, especially in the areas surrounding the town of Agua Blanca".

The genesis of this idea was to provide additional income to the employees of this small resort and their families, creating an environment of cooperation. At the same time, we seek to create income opportunities that at the same time protect the environment.

History

The foundation was founded in 2012 to keep the 20 employees of the Agua Blanca Hotel employed in times of tourism crisis and to take advantage of the fruit trees on the property. Today it serves as a marketing and collection center for fruit produced in an agroecological way in the area.

Over the years it has supported various environmental education projects both at the hotel and in the area. In 2020, the Friends of Agua Blanca Foundation directly employs 12 people. The income is distributed equally between those who harvest the fruit, those who process it and those who market it.
